So many of you gave great responses to my blog question the other day, and I was blown away by how many of you wanted to know more about our siblings and our parents! I guess it makes sense because they are such an integral part of who we are as parents, and also have such a great close relationship with the girls! Ill try and do my best giving you the basics without boring you too much! Here we go!
My mom is 57 years old, but you would never know it by looking at her. She has been one of my heroes for as long as I can remember! She’s raised 10 children, most of them on her own. She has more strength and endurance than I can imagine at times. She is wonderful mother and has been an exceptional Grandma to the girls. They completely adore her! I wont say it out loud, but im pretty sure a couple of the girls would call her the favorite next to mom and dad!
Not many of you really know about Denver. She is married and has 3 children. She married a Canadian, and lives up there, so we only see her once a year, usually in the summer. Denver was my best friend growing up. We were only a year apart, and we did everything together. We always had the same friends, and literally hung out every day with each other. She was definitely the better half of the siblings. She is very kind, compassionate, caring, and empathetic. She always looked out for me growing up, and I don’t recall one negative word coming out of her mouth my entire childhood. She’s truly a saint. I really miss being able to see her every day! Denver married Joe right out of high school and they live in Canada. They have 3 beautiful children, Olivia, Easton, and Cal.
Drake- Tyson’s brother
Drake is probably my closest brother and Im sure that has something to do with him being closer in age to me. I have a lot of memories growing up with Drake in them. He was always the little brother that wanted to hang with his older brother. I patronized him as much as I could, and only wish I had done more. He’s grown to be a very good man. Drake is always someone I can talk to about anything, and I always appreciate his advice. He’s been a good example to me of responsibility and seeing things through. He’s very dependable! If he says he’s going to do something, he’ll do it. He’s also my craziest brother. I remember going to a pool with almost 50 high dives. He walked in, went to the tallest one and jumped right off, no hesitation. I love that about him. He’s been a great brother, and an even better uncle to the girls. They love when “Uncle Drake” comes to visit! They know that all rules go out the window when he’s here! LOL. Drake served a mission after high school in Austria and Germany. He’s graduated college with a degree in business and now works for Goldman Sachs. He’s been dating Claudia for several years now, I’m sure you’ve seen her in the blogs. She’s pretty much family, but were hoping to make it official soon!
Bo- Tyson’s brother
Bo is the comic relief in our family, and always has been. He continues to make us laugh with his witty and quick comments. Bo has always been a character for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid he was always running around with a goofy smile on his face keeping us all entertained. He can impersonate almost anybody at the drop of a hat. Bo is very intelligent. Usually when I want to know the answer to some sort of trivia, especially history or current events, he’s the one I dial first. I took my first college class with Bo, oddly enough because I’m 9 years older than him. That goes to show you his intelligence, and my procrastination, LOL. Bo served a mission after 2 semesters of college in London, England. He married Camilla last year and she has been a great addition to the family. Surprisingly our little brother Elijah introduced them. Elijah, his wife Kate, and Camilla all served in the same mission in Russia. Pretty cool!
Joey- Tyson’s brother
Joey is the our middle child. Growing up, him, Bo, and Drake were inseparable. Wherever you would find one, you’d find the other two. I always loved that they had each other, and when I’m looking at the girls, I am always reminded at these 3 looking back. I’ve helped take care of all of my siblings from birth with the exception of Denver, and I remember a specific event about joey that cannot be forgotten. It was around Halloween time, and we just a toddler. We had a lot of candy around the house, especially double bubble gum which my family had just bought a jumbo bag of. I remember Joey needing a diaper change, and I drew the short straw with Denver. As I began the job, I noticed a familiar smell. As I opened the diaper, I got another familiar color. It seemed as though Joe had gotten a hold of the double bubble candy bag, and probably swallowed at least 20 pieces, poor kid. That diaper was all bubble gum! Joey has very eccentric tastes in most things including music, film, and especially fashion. What I love about Joey is that nobody’s opinion bothers him. He is who he is and nobody sways that. Joey served a mission out of high school in Wisconsin. He’s been married a little over 2 years to Shannon, who we all adore. They have one baby boy, Jett. He’s an adorable squishy mound of goodness! Joey’s a great husband and father!
Jackson- Tyson’s brother
Although Jackson was so young by the time I left the house, I’ve really got closer to him in these last few years. Jackson is solid, and dependable. If I was to be stuck on a mountainside in the middle of nowhere, id probably pick Jackson to be with, because he’d know how to make shelter and get something to eat. He’s just a man’s man. He’s also my tallest brother at 6’5. Crazy how I didn’t get any of that height. Jackson served a mission after high school in Georgia. He’s been married 2 years now to his high school sweetheart Rachael and they are expecting their first child, a boy this December. They’re going to be great parents! They’ve both been amazing to our girls and always make an effort to come see us usually weekly!
Elijah- Tyson’s brother
Elijah is the peacemaker of the family. Most us are usually riding at about an 8, are very competitive, and love to rile each other up. Elijah is the complete opposite of all of this. He’s always mellow yellow, tells you he loves you, and loves to hug. That being said, he’s very athletic and has excelled at most sports. He served a mission out of high school in Russia, where he met his now wife Kate. They have one son, Crew who is almost one, and a spitting image of Elijah. They’re great parents to that little boy. They’re both in school now finishing up their bachelor’s.
Garrison- Tyson’s brother
Garrison is my go to brother. He is very dependable and always gets the job done! He’s also very smart. Things come easy for him. There’s still a debate as to who’s the best basketball player in the family, even though he has yet to beat me. Although he’s 6’4 with paws like a bear, he has the softest personality, and the girls know it. He comes and spends quality time with the girls all the time, and I think that’s why they love him so much! He’s their big teddy bear, and would do anything for them. He served a mission after high school in Germany. Garrison is 21 and works full time and attends college. He’s also single ladies!
Hugsy is the best Aunt to ever live. The girls love her so much, and so do we. She’s been in their lives since day one. Our NICU list was very small due to it being the cold season, and Hugsy made the cut. That tells you how involved she’s been from the start. She’s a great sister and and even better aunt! She’s going to be an amazing mother someday to a very lucky man. I was in high school when Madison was born, so she was kind of my little sidekick. Whenever Denver and my friends would come over, they’d always want to see Madison and play with her. She was such a cute baby. Scarlett and Evie remind me a lot of what she was like when she was young. We all called her “Missy” back then, so she’s almost has as many nicknames as the girls! She works as a para-educator for local high school, and is attending school full-time working on her bachelor degree as well. As much as we hate when the school years starts up again, we love that’s she’s accomplishing her goals! Hugsy is one of the very few people we leave the alone with girls. Most people cant handle 4 alone, but she does it with ease. She’s been a blessing to have around!
Oakland is the baby of the family, and if you asked me, the perfect person to share bookend status with. Oakland and I have vastly different personalities though. He’s very shy and calm, and definitely a peacemaker. I don’t think ive ever seen Oakland mad at anyone is his life? Is that odd? He’s of course my mother’s favorite, and even she wont deny that. Probably because he’s so sweet and respectful to her. He’s a junior in high school, and has many friends. He loves sports, hanging out with his brothers, and learning from his oldest brothers music taste. Oakland and Garrison are really close and hang out quite often. He plans on following in his brothers footsteps and serving a mission after high school. He’ll be amazing, just as he is at most things. Oakland is probably the favorite uncle, although I would never say that to the others. He spends the most time around the girls, and they absolutely love him. All 4 will go to him with ease. I think its because of his sweet nature. They can sense that. Oakland has been a great little brother, and also a good example of characteristics that I as an older brother look up to. Imagine that. He’ll be a great husband and father someday.
Steve-(Papa)- Ashley’s dad
Ashley’s dad, more affectionately know by the grandkids as Papa was farm boy growing up in Eastern Idaho. According to Ashley, there is no match for his fried potatoes! Ashley and him share a lot in common, especially pine nuts. The one thing I remembered from early on in our marriage was Ashley driving all around town trying to find a pine nut stand. I’d never even heard of them. By the time we found some, and I saw the work that went into actually eating them, I thought she was crazy! This was a tradition between her and her dad though for many years, and something she still does today, thanks to Papa! I’ve even learned to appreciate how rare this time of year is for this special nut! Ashley’s dad is great with the girls, and they love sitting on his lap reading a book or working on a puzzle!
Mary Lou-(Mimi)- Ashley’s mom
Mary Lou has been known as Mimi to all the grandkids since before I even joined the family. She’s a wonderfully loving and compassionate grandmother who has always been there for her children and grandchildren when needed. Mimi is from the south, Arkansas to be exact, and you’d know it listening to her southern accent. She’s been in Utah since the 70’s but the accent never faded. She’s raised 3 beautiful daughters, and 2 Nephew’s who were adopted as sons before Ashley was even born. That should tell you a lot about her character!
Whitney- Ashley’s sister
Whit is the oldest sister, and who Ashley always looked up to growing up. They are about 8 years apart, so you can imagine the big sister/little sister relationship that occurred. LOL. Now that they’re adults, they’re great friends. I think they look the most alike in the family, and call them the salt and pepper twins. They share a lot in common. Ashley went to esthetics school after watching big sis in the profession for years. They’re both incredibly good at what they do. Whitney is one of the most sought after Micro-blading professionals in the state! No wonder all of our brows look so good! LOL. Whit is married to Greg, and they have one daughter Kaya, who the girls absolutely love. Everytime she comes over, the girls talk about her for days!
Leslie- Ashley’s sister
Leslie was and is the peacemaker of Ashley’s family. She’s always mellow and level-headed. I always admired this trait about her, especially coming from my family where we’re all a little more passionate and on edge. She’s married to Joe and they have 4 beautiful kids together; Stella, Max, Sabrina (Tuna), and Alex. She works full time, makes time for all of her kids plays and sporting events, and then tries to save the world on the weekends donating her time, energy and money to charities. The family refers to her as ‘the saint’, which may be true.
Jeff- Ashley’s brother
Jeff is Ashley’s oldest brother, and probably the one who spoiled her the most. He was almost in his teens when Ash was born, so by the time he was in high school, Ash was kind of just a little sidekick for him. I’ve heard numerous stories of him spoiling her as a kid taking her to the movies, buying treats on store runs, and basically just being the big brother everyone always wanted. He’s been an incredible uncle to the girls, and they love his genuinely sweet spirit. All the grandkids love Uncle Jeffy!
Blake -Ashley’s brother
Blake is Ashley’s brother next in line above her. There’s about a 6 year age gap, but they were really close growing up. If you’ve ever watched the Goldbergs on Tv, I imagine their relationship was just like the oldest brother and sister in this show. Blake was constantly teasing Ash, and she would constantly be getting him in trouble with her parents. On the flip side, if anybody ever teased or bullied Ash at school, they had to deal with Blake, and it happened a few times. I guess there’s that unwritten rule with siblings that they can beat up the younger siblings, but nobody else can. Go figure. Blake has been married twice. He has two kids from his first marriage, Kinze and Ayden. He has one from his second marriage, Linkin. He lives with his girlfriend Ashley and they have one kid together as well, Dax. Before the Quads came along, he held most grandkids title. We evened it out pretty quick!
I’m working on new update blogs on the girls with tons of pics, but here are the last ones if you want to catch up!!1
