A Grandmother's Thoughts on the arrival of the Quads

Jodi holding babiesBelow is a letter Tyson’s Mother wrote about her thoughts on the babies and their arrival into the family. Please enjoy.

For me, Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evangeline have completely changed my world.

There was a time when I didn’t think that Tyson and Ashley would ever be able to have children of their own. I came from a family of 11 kids and I myself had 10 kids, so when we learned that Tyson and Ashley were struggling to have a child, it was surreal. It was something completely out of the ordinary for our family and it was a hard thing for all of us to watch happen.

We were hopeful when Tyson and Ashley told us that they were going to do the IVF process, but we did not want to get our hopes too high because we had seen so many negative outcomes throughout their infertility process. But when Tyson called me and told me to meet him and Ashley along with Ashely’s parents the night that they would find out if they were pregnant or not, I was hopeful, excited and nervous.

When the envelope opened and the word “positive” appeared, I felt so much joy! There was so much emotion in the room. We all had waited so long for them to be able to have a child and it was so amazing to witness that dream finally becoming a reality! Then months later, when Tyson and Ashley came to my home and showed our family the ultrasound pictures from their doctors appointment and told us that they were going to be having four babies, that joy I felt when I learned they were pregnant was literally quadrupled! Never in a million years did I think that they would have four children at one time.

From when they started the IVF process, I had been hoping and praying for one baby for them and all of us to love. And now they would have four! My two grand-kids had turned into six in no time! And soon after we had learned that they would be having four children, we learned that they were all girls! That was just as surprising! Out of my 10 kids, 8 are boys, so for them to be having four girls was such an amazing change! And on December 28, 2014, the world gained four beautiful baby girls who I am so overwhelmed with joy to be able to call my granddaughters. Since their birth, all of our lives have changed dramatically, and only for the better. These girls have brought so much happiness into this family and I am so proud of the people that Tyson and Ashley have become because of them. They are already such great parents, and I know that they will only get better.

Tyson is the oldest of my children, and he has always been an example to all of his younger siblings. And as a mom watching him embrace fatherhood with such passion is an amazing sight. And Ashley is a natural at being a mom, she’s always been good with kids and to see her have her dream of becoming a mom realized is incredible. Indie, Esme, Scarlett, and Evie are beautiful beyond measure, and when I hold them, I feel nothing but happiness. I love them more than I ever imagined possible, as does the whole family.
