Amazing Homemade Caramel Corn

So many of you responded to this picture the other day when I posted, I had to share the recipe with you! This is one of my favorite treats, and I have to thank my father-in-law for the recipe! All thanks go to him!


1 cup of butter (do not use margarine! This makes the mix thin and runny and melts the popcorn! Real butter is needed!)

1 cup Karo syrup

1 cup of brown sugar

2 bags of Popcorn ( I like Pop Secret or Orville Red)

1 Pinch of Cream of Tartar

1 pinch of baking soda



Pop both bags of popcorn and pour into large mixing bowl. I like to empty the kernels out of the top of the bag before I fully open. Nobody likes to bite down on one of those while enjoying a delicious bite of caramel corn!

Melt butter, syrup, and sugar together in cooking Pot, bring to a boil. This is when I drop the pinch of tarter in. Stir for about 30 seconds, then add the pinch of baking soda. This will bring the ingredients to a bubbly boil as the caramel thickens a bit. Stir for about 10-15 seconds, and remove from heat. I like to let the ingredients sit for about a minute or two to cool, then I pour over the popcorn while stirring it evenly! Poof! You have a very delicious treat for any occasion, but perfect for the Fall evenings!
