Dad's Trip and Return Home From The Utah Outback

It was so good to get away for a few days with my brothers and just bond and have a little freedom to jump in a lake or shoot my guns. This doesn’t happen very often, so I truly enjoy just relaxing and talking about whatever with my brothers. We always have a great time as we all grew up close, and nothing has changes as we’ve become adults.

It was hard on Friday morning when I left. I am so attached to my girls, especially having the luxury of working from home. I see them every day. I spend so much quality time with them, its hard to leave sometimes knowing I wont be able to tuck them in or give them a squeeze before bed! As hard as it was to leave, the weekend was very relaxing and needed; not just for physical rejuvenation, but mental also.

My best friend of almost 20 years lives in Vernal, Utah. Its about a two and a half hour drive from our place. What I like about Vernal is that its a small town. Very quiet. I don’t know if I could ever live in such a small town, but its a nice break!

Friday we rolled into town around 23o. We unpacked and relaxed for a while waiting two of my brothers who were coming in later. We looked at some of the local Indian Trading Posts, and shops while waiting. By the time everyone arrived, we settled in at our favorite Mexican Restaurant out there called Don Pedros. It was fun to sit around the table with most of my brothers and best friend and just laugh about life. This doesn’t happen often as we are all busy with school, marriage, kids, and life in general. I think we all enjoyed the simple evening.

Saturday we planned for a little more adventure. We headed up to Flaming Gorge to check out the beautiful lake and scenery. It did not disappoint. My brothers are all part fish, so naturally we had to jump in the lake for a swim.

When you’re in Vernal, you check out the Boot Barn!

We enjoyed the beautiful scenery Utah had to offer. Sometimes its hard to leave this place.

After the Gorge, we headed back to town to shoot our guns. Steve always knows all the fun places to do things. This place was on top of a cliff that overlooked a canyon. Perfect for clay shooting. We all had a blast.

As the second night was winding down, I was starting to miss my girls. I know it had only been a little over 24 hours, but its hard to be away from all 5 of them. We do everything together, and as much fun as I was having with boys, I really wanted to squeeze my girls.

We enjoyed a movie after dinner at Steve’s house, and then settled into bed.

Sunday morning we slept in. That was something I enjoyed as it happens very rarely. After we packed up, we headed into town for some lunch with Steve before hitting the road back home. Its always bittersweet saying goodbye to Steve, as we have so much fun together, but it always makes you more excited for the next time!

The brothers and I waved goodbye, and headed back home. It was a little over 2 hours before we made it home.

I received the best greeting as I knocked on the front door. All my girls opening it up and running into my arms. How lucky and blessed I am to have what I have. I have never felt so rich in my life than when I’m holding all my girls! It was good to be home!
