This has been a dream of ours since we started talking about our family! Ashley and I both love Disneyland so much! There are so many fond memories there for both us from our childhood, as well as from our marriage. We’ve spent time with parents, friends and siblings enjoying all things magical, and experiencing a dream world that makes you feel like everything is going to be alright!
That being said, nothing was going to prepare us for how magical it actually was taking our own children and seeing the magic through their eyes!
We booked the Courtyard Marriot at the entrance to the park. We knew if we needed a quick escape, this was going to be crucial for us not having to walk too far. It was so perfect! Not only were the rooms spacious and clean, but the service was excellent! When we were being checked in, they found out we had quads. They immediately gave all the girls little whale stuffed animals from underneath the counter. Obviously they did this with all kids, but after a long morning drive, the girls certainly appreciated it! Also seeing our circumstance, they checked us in early and made sure we were all settled before heading over to park! Big shout out to Paige who took such great care of us! If anyone is looking for lodging, definitely recommend these guys!
Planning for the excitement was one thing, but I thought we were crazy if we didn’t think of the other end of the spectrum! Obviously taking four 2 year olds to Disneyland required some extra thought! Were they going to hold up in the summer weather? Did we need to pack extra diaper bags? Did we need to bring a cooler? Were they going to stay in their strollers? If not, would we physically be able to keep track of them? Would they like the rides? Are you starting to get a glimpse of all the worries we had going into the park?
Having Madison and Oakland on the trip with us really put most of these questions to bed! For instance they did want to get out of the strollers quite often, but having one adult per child really made this a non-worry issue!
By the time we got there on the first day, it was lunchtime. What else but corn dogs!
We kept them super hydrated throughout the day! What I love about Disney is you can get ice water at pretty much any of their restaurants free of charge! This was HUGE for us with the kiddos!
Although the weather was pretty warm, the stroller canopies and ice water on walks helped tremendously!
As soon as we took the kids on their first ride, I knew this trip was going to be a success! We actually started them out on an adult ride, Pirates of the Caribbean! This is one of our favorite rides, and our thought process was if they completely hated it, we could always move to the more kid friendly rides. But we didn’t even need to worry, because all 4 of them completely loved the ride; even to the point of singing “Yo-ho” for several minutes after the ride! They loved being on a boat as well. Even today when we talk about Disney asking them what their favorite ride was, we usually get a “boat” answer from one of them!
Everything else was downhill after the first ride! They absolutely loved all the amusement around them! We did Haunted Mansion, which they loved. I think my love of Fall and Halloween helped prepare them for this. The Dumbo ride, Pooh ride, and Pinnochio were all hits! That being said, I don’t think anything topped Small World. They fell in love with this ride, and we fell in love with their excitement and fondness for the ride. What once was Ashley’s least favorite ride, now became a family favorite!
Esme didn’t know what to think of the whale??
Are there 4 of them? This question never gets old! LOL.
Evie’s face just kills me in this photo! Smile on demand!
The Carousel was definitely a highlight for the kids. They just lit up when they saw the horses, and wouldn’t stop chattering until we actually put them on one! They loved it!
The Disney Crew!
Rides aside, I think the churros were the next big hit! The girls absolutely loved the Disney churros, but who doesn’t. Indie was particularly fond to them, just like daddy!
By the second day, we made our way over to California Adventure. The adults took turns riding the Grizzly Rapids, while the girls enjoyed snacks in the shade! The favorite ride over there had to be the Mater ride. The girls love all the tractors and trucks, to the point where they kept repeating those words for 20 minutes after the rides! Their excitement was electric, and contagious.
We ran into some celebrities while at the park! Anyone remember Magnum P.I.?
We enjoyed some restaurants and site seeing throughout both parks, and the girls overall were troopers for all the walking, warm weather, and schedule changes!
Mickey Mouse Donuts, “yes please”!!
On the second day, we wanted to make it to the firework show, so we started early, and planned a nap in the middle of the day. It went perfectly as we conquered much of Disneyland in the early morning, and then the girls took an incredible nap! Oak and Hugsy stayed an enjoyed the park while Mom an Dad worked during nap time. The girls slept til almost 5, which really was what allowed us to make the firework show at 930, and have the girls happy while doing so! It was a magical end to our Disney experience!
Best part of the trip came on the second day. Meeting Mickey and Minnie! The girls absolutely loved this experience, but their faces tell you that!
Overall, the girls were absolute troopers, not only for the 2 days at Disney, but for the entire California trip! We had such a wonderful experience watching them experience the magic of Disney for the first time! This was certainly the first of many more Disney trips to come!
Hope you guys enjoyed this blog. Many more adventures to come! In the meantime, please enjoy a few of my favorite all time blogs below!
