Thank you again for all the love and support of these blogs! I absolutely love writing them and love your questions and feedback! Today we’ll jump into your questions about Esme and her personality! Here we go!
-Who’s her favorite Princess?
Sleeping Beauty without a doubt! We watch the movie every time we are in the car (they wont let me switch it out). She has the sleeping beauty dress she wears around, and we just brought her back a Sleeping Beauty Doll from Disney World. It makes me happy because she’s my favorite princess as well!
-Where did her name come from?
Great question! So her name was kind of a process getting to. Originally, Ashley wanted to name babies A and B Indie and Ivie. I loved Indie, but wasn’t fond of Ivie. So we discussed other options, and Esmae landed on the table. Ashley liked it tying into Indie Mae, but it didn’t quite feel right to me. Ashley suggested Esme at that point and that was all that needed to be said. I cast my vote, and the rest is history. Im so glad we chose Esme though, it just suits her perfectly!
-Why is she the sweetest? I love her so much!
First of all, love this question and statement! Thank you! Secondly, I feel personally that this stems from her spirit that God gave her. Esme has been giving from the very beginning. Most of you know we had to have TTTS surgery on Indie and Esme at 20 weeks. Long story short, At this time Indie was receiving too much fluid in her sac, and Esme not enough. The twins shared a placenta, and therefore shared nutrients. The joke has always been that Esme was sharing and Indie was not. LOL. Not really funny back then, but we laugh now. I think Esme was just created that way. She’s been giving and selfless from the beginning. She still shows those characteristics today with concern for her sissies and her willingness to share and be kind. She’s a sweet spirit!
-How do you think TTTS has impacted Esme and Indie’s personalities?
Another excellent question. Honestly there’s no real way to tell the impact, but id like to think it created a bond that will never be broken! These two are as close as any twins or sisters I’ve ever know. They look out for each other, play well together, and will forever be paired together as twins/sisters. I’d like to think that the hurdles that they have tackled together will be something they can bond about forever. Life is hard, and these two have already beaten the odds several times. Makes me wonder what their next accomplishment will be!
-Who do you think she looks like the most? You or Ashley?
It changes daily. When you look at Ashley’s toddler pics, there is a clear resemblance. But sometimes she’ll look at me in a way that shouts “baby Tyson”. LOL. I think she got a really great mix of both of us.
-Do you feel she’s coming out of her shell more lately? I feel she’s becoming much more adventurous!
Definitely. You know its funny, the first year Esme was our resident wild child. She was always doing something crazy, funny, or unexpected. Then year two she got really apprehensive about certain things like water or the wind. Now this year, she seems to be getting back into the action and taking the lead on most adventures. She’s loved swimming lessons, including going under water. She’s done all the big water slides this year without any fear. She even got within a foot of a snake that I caught in the yard this morning. I had to tell her to quit getting so close!
-What nickname of hers does she like to be called and what do the other girls call her?
Interestingly enough, all the sissies just call her Esme. She has so many fun names, but they prefer her given name. Occasionally Indie will call her Ezzy. She loves when I call her Shmeegy, probably because she knows im coming in for a big hug when I do that.
-I can see her help you in the kitchen most of the time, does she like cooking?
Without a doubt. She loves to help mom and dad in the kitchen, and she’s usually the only one. She loves to watch how we do everything, and then likes to mimic the process. She’s a fast learner, and very hands on. Its been very easy teaching Esme how to do things. She’s very smart. Her favorite thing to do is crack eggs or pour whatever is being measured.
-Is she a Daddy or Mommy’s girl?
Honestly, she’s split right down the middle. She loves to be squeezed and roughed up by daddy, but also love love loves the soft and gentle touch of her mother. From the beginning, I don’t think she’s ever really chosen a true favorite. I think she blows with wind and lands where she lands. Its nice most days because in social settings, she’s relatively easy to keep happy.
-What does she excel at?
Esme has so many awesome qualities and characteristics. She’s hilarious for one. She’s always had us laughing from day one with her facial expressions to her statements. She’s very social. She’ll be the first to go up to a stranger and say hi, welcome new people into the house, or play with new friends. She is definitely a people person. She’s very smart. She learns fast and is also very articulate with her words and a very good communicator. She reads emotions incredibly well, and on that same spectrum is probably the most sensitive to them. Im just scratching the surface here, but know she’s going to do a lot of great things!
I hope you all enjoyed this brief but fun look at Esme’s personality. Your questions again were incredible! Here’s Evie and Scarlett’s blog below in case you missed! Ill try and have Indie’s up by Thursday!
